- Avoid intense midday sun.
- Apply before sunbathing.
- Apply multiple times to maintain sun protection, particularly when sweating or after swimming and drying off.
- Apply a generous amount of sun protection product. Smaller amounts reduce the level of protection.
- Protect babies and small children from direct sunshine.
- Dress babies and small children in protective clothes and use suntan lotions with a high sun protection factor.
- Even sun protection products with high sun protection factors do not completely guard against UV rays.

SENSITIVE SKIN – BABIES AND CHILDREN
DESCRIPTION Children and babies with sensitive skin can have dry skin, eczema or even atopic eczema. Babies are often affected on the face, scalp and neck as well as on the outside of the elbows and the front of the knees. Toddlers often have patches of eczema that slowly move towards the inside of the elbows and the back of the knees. The face and neck are also often affected.
The most difficult aspect of dry skin and atopic eczema is the agonizing itching. Babies and children instinctively scratch or rub their itchy skin until it becomes raw. This leads to intensified eczema and redness and the skin becomes infected.
TIP Use lipid-replenishing, soothing skincare, for example with vegetable oils, dexpanthenol, zinc and urea.
WHICH SUNSCREEN PRODUCT IS BEST FOR YOUR SKIN?
- Normal / dry skin: A rich sun cream is ideal for normal or sensitive skin that tends to be dry.
- All skin types: Sun sprays can be used on all skin types.
- Acne-prone / sensitive skin: For acne-prone, sensitive and allergy-prone skin (sun intolerance, photodermatitis), it is best to use sun fluids with an oil-free formulation.
- Children / baby skin: Special sunscreen for the sensitive skin of children has a rich oil-in-water formulation with a high sun protection factor.
